ERROR: User registration is currently not allowed.

    i have been trying a few login widgets etc for login and registration and now I get ERROR: User registration is currently not allowed..

    I have turned on the checkbox in general settings and I can get to registration form OK (see https://edinburgh-blues.uk/wp-login.php?action=register).
    It looks like something is corrupt someplace and I dont know how to reset everything back to initial settings regarding registration. Anyone have any ideas as this is preventing new users from signing up to the site.

    – which one?
    – what theme are you using? downloaded from?

    at the moment i have “Nice Login Widget” enabled as my original preferred widget,. I tried “Pie Register” and “Profile Builder – front-end user registration, login and edit profile” and “ProfilePress – Custom Login, Registration & Password Reset Form Builder for WordPress”. uninstalled all of them except for “Nice Login Widget”. My theme is my own created via Artisteer. The theme and registration work fine on a test system. All i want to achieve now is a “reset” to the registration process.

    It works for me.

    PR Registration shortcode and widget also requires you to enable “anyone can register” in wordpress configuration pages which you have already did. So now you can use it.

    can anyone help ? is it a database field content ? what is it ?

    the culprit has been found . All plugins deactivated and registration works. Activated one by one and wp-Spamshield was the culprit. Now back to normal.
