Error: Video thumbnail failed to save correctly

I havent also updated it after 1.98, before it worked well, with newer server it started do to that, GD and Imagick are insisde newer server also, they are just newer versions of it, than in older server. This old version of uTubeVideo Gallery works well with php 7.3.8. Even all thumbnails work, the ones that where added before, just cant add new videos.

Do i have to start from beginning if i update to v2.x, adding all the youtube urls and names again to get it working?

Based on your error you are getting I believe the plugin may be corrupted. Try reinstalling the same version you are already using and see if that helps.

I downloaded 1.98 again, deleted old one from ftp, uploaded the downloaded 1.98 to the ftp again. Also deleted browser history, still the same after this.

Can i try newer without loosing all the youtube url-s?

I’m not sure what you mean by losing youtube urls? It’s also possible there is a corruption on the new server with the imagick library php extension. It could also be an issue with the particular version of imagick on your new server.

All the made galleries and youtube url-s inside each gallery are gone after upgrade to 2.04, i can get them back only if i downgrade the plugin to 1.98 or earlier. With 2.04 it does not work at all, cant even make new gallery, save buttons to nothing and settings page does not open, just this ring is moving in the middle of the settings page. With 1.98 it works well, only without thumbnails for the new video.

Could you help me? I can share login to the website.

I tested thumbnails with two other similar plugins and they work, also all other functions inside plugins are working.

Sorry for the late reply. The issues you are having with the latest 2.0.x version are related to other plugins conflicting with the Babel dependencies of uTubeVideo Gallery. Unfortunately, there is not much more I can do regarding other developers codebases and conflicts. For the older version of the plugin, if the only update you made was to switch to a new webserver, then the only possible place for issues would have to be the server configuration. The code that saves thumbnails has not changed since the initial release of the plugin and if it works with the old server, there has to be something on the new server causing issues.

Sad to say but i probably move to other plugin, it did take some time but now it is more or less similar to your plugin, at least thumbnail size and text. Like i have mentioned before, thumbnails automatically work with other similar plugins and with your plugin it does not any more. I can not add new videos to the site with your plugin because of the thumbnail error. I still have this work in progress, to get all the youtube links to the new plugin and make some changes on the way if needed. I have been using your plugin long time and i loved it, but it does not work any more for me. I will not go back to other server with older version of php and other older server plugins, all my other wordpress plugins work like they worked before with new server and hosting service provider confirmed that everything works from their side and i am not their one and only client.

I have disabled all plugins and enabled only utubevideo gallery 2.04 and now i have settings visible, but still there is error, similar thumbnail error.

First in settings page, server info cant get php information and it detects that everything is ok with ImageMagick and GD.

If i try to add video now i get this Error:
Imagick or GD may be missing or bad YouTube API Key

I have just greated youtube api and error message is the same, with or without api. I still belive something is up with plugin. I love this lightweight plugin, other plugins that i have tested give more weight or sources to the page and give less score if i test page speed.

I hope i still can use your plugin somehow ??

I’m afraid the only possible issues you are having with the plugin are related to your server configuration.

Due to not being able to show the PHP version is an indicator of this. There is nothing further I’m able to do. I’m sorry.

I am not the only one that have had thumbnail issues with utubevideo gallery.

I get same error with youtube and vimeo so youtube api key is not an issue in my site.

My only question at the moment is, why other similar plugins can get thumbnails automatically added and utubevideo gallery does not in my current site and server setup?

Because of better score that i have with this plugin i would really like to keep it.

Is it possible that you add manual thumbnail option in future updates that it is possible to add different or same thumbnail pictures also manually?

I have tested that i resize and copy picture to your plugin chache folder like other thumbnail pictures that i have and renamed picture file correctly, same way like other pictures there, just with other youtube id, but i get same error when i try to add video after that. Ho to remove thumnail error from your 1.98 or newer plugin that i could still get thumbnails working if i add thumbnail picture manually with ftp and after that i add video?

It is clear by now that the problem exist between plugin and imagemagick. Imagemagick supports many different coding and it is possible that some of them are not working. What command should my web service provider test inside server command line? What php code they can execute, what they can test inside isolated place?

They can test different imagegick versions if they know how exaclty this plugin uses imagemagick. What imagegick versions are supported?

Please help so i can send information to my web service provider or you can send all the needed info also to [email protected]

I have tested up to the version of Imagick included with Ubuntu 18.04. The plugin code is using the built-in WordPress image saving function which automatically deciddes whether to use Imagick or GD. I do not actually specify which. I would try downgrading your Imagick version to be inline with older releases. It’s possible WordPress does not support the latest versions for some reason.

This does not fix imagick, but now it works again.

It uses GD first, added this to functions.php
