`Cannot read properties of null (reading 'activateModule')

        in SetupUsingProxyWithSignIn
        in DashboardSplashApp
        in RestoreSnapshots
        in ErrorHandler
        in ThemeProvider
        in StrictMode
        in Root`

I installed and activated the plugin, but when I click on “Set up now link” I get the error above.

I tried deleting and re-installing but it did not help.

I’m also seeing the following (probably unrelated) error in the error log:

Uncaught Error: Call to undefined function create_function() in /home/<USER>/public_html/encryption_keyboard.php:12

I followed the steps here: https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/site-kit-encountered-an-error-91/

but with only Site Kit enabled the problem remains.

    WordPress 6.1.1, PHP 8.1

    Hi there @ventsyv,

Thanks for reaching out. Based on the second error you reported something may be failing during set up that’s part of your overall site, and not Site Kit specifically. What we can do is check your set up and see if we can determine more on this, in particular if you’ve already followed the steps from the support topic you shared using the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin.

In order to do so, please share the following:

    1. Your Site Health information. You can use this form to share privately if preferred.
    2. When checking the Site Kit dashboard from a Chrome browser incognito window does the same occur? If so, please share any browser console errors that appear.?

Another consideration, if you have access to switch PHP versions, is to temporarily downgrade to PHP 7.4 before then attempting Site Kit set up once more.

Let me know if you have any questions with the above.

Switching to PHP 7.4 resolves the issue – I now see SiteKit’s setup page.

Is SiteKit not compatible with PHP 8.0?

Nice troubleshooting, and thanks for the update. Site Kit is compatible with PHP8.0 and above. There are some features of WordPress core that may not be fully compatible, with some depreciation notices and PHP related warnings. Site Kit may use some of these features, resulting in such notices or warnings. Typically they don’t result in a failed set up, but I can’t be sure what occurred in your case.

You’ll find out more on WordPress support with PHP versions below:
    https://make.www.ads-software.com/core/handbook/references/php-compatibility-and-wordpress-versions/

Now that you’re connected, you may wish to enable PHP8 once more, and check is everything working as expected.

Unfortunately it’s not connected yet. I ran into another issue that I posted into a separate thread. But I’ll definitely try doing that once I’m all connected.

    Thanks!

Thanks for the update @ventsyv. As we’re aware of these particular issue is PHP related I’ll close this support topic. I’ll review and work with you on the other topic now. Thank you!
