  • Suggest that you do not use the internal plugin downloader and installer, many localhost setups do not have the required FTP server.

    Instead do the manual install, download the ZIP file, extract it and put the directory in the plungins directory.

    Similar things happen with WordPress core updates.

    PS: from another thread, it may work for plugins too.

    Thanks for the replies. I was able to find a way to bypass
    the need for FTP credentials by adding the code below to my
    wp-config.php file

    define('FS_METHOD', 'direct');

    I have quite the same problem as well. After updating WP Job Manager Plug in. I got this:
    Warning: An unexpected error occurred. Something may be wrong with www.ads-software.com or this server’s configuration. If you continue to have problems, please try the support forums. (WordPress could not establish a secure connection to www.ads-software.com. Please contact your server administrator.) in /Applications/MAMP/htdocs/bpoavenue/wp-admin/includes/plugin-install.php on line 77

    Any help? Thanks
