Error when trying to publish pages containing images

  • I’m using WP Version 4.4 and am encountering issues when trying to insert images into new or existing pages.

    The reported error is:

    Not Acceptable

    An appropriate representation of the requested resource /wp/wp-admin/post.php could not be found on this server.

    Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

    I have done a complete new instal of WP with no plugins and get the same error.
    I have also cleared browser cache.
    I have used the Twenty Sixteen theme and also my desired theme of diversity-style. The error occurs in both. I have no issues with upload to the Media Library, just with trying to publish / update pages.

    I’m new to the WP world and find this extremely frustrating.

  • Try re-uploading all files & folders – except the root wp-config.php & .htaccess files and the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.
