    Hi,

I originally installed version 1.3.2 of the plugin.
When I updated the plugin by clicking ‘update now’ from within plugins, I got the following message when trying to reactivate.

Below is a copy/paste from the ‘update plugin’ page.

    ********************************
    Unpacking the update…

    Installing the latest version…

Removing the old version of the plugin…

    Plugin updated successfully.

Plugin failed to reactivate due to a fatal error.

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STATIC, expecting T_STRING or T_VARIABLE or ‘$’ in /home1/wizard/public_html/miel2/wp-content/plugins/envoke-supersized/includes/class-enss-singleton.php on line 51

    Thanks

    Hello,

Sorry for the trouble in updating. Can you provide any additional information on the web server that you are trying to install the plugin on – at least the version of PHP for now. An older php version is likely the issue here..

Hi, Thanks for getting back to me.

Yes, you’re absolutely right, this was the issue.

Locally I’m using PHP 5.4.4 and on my server I was using 5.2.17.
I forced it to 5.3.27 and everything works now, the plugin was able to activate and the error message has gone.

    Regards

I have a similar issue not sure what the cause may be.

In the process of upadting plugins my plugins page returned an error
I found in forums an answer to rename my plugins folder, sign back into my admin dashboard and try and update workdpress. Did that and bingo it updated fine. The thread suggested I rename plugin folder back to normal and then reactivate the plugins one by one.

I can not seem to locate or isolate the issue.
Every time I attempt an update it breaks again. giving me an error when I try to access the plugins page.

I am currenly running WordPress 3.8.1 with Constructor theme. currently using PHP5.3

    at Cityoflapwai.com
    any ideas?

@idahoster Do you have any more details on the specific error that is occurring? Could you also provide a list of a plugins that you are running? I can try to see if I can reproduce the issue once I have this info.
