    Hi,

I uploaded the JetPack VideoPress plugin to my staging site to test it before buying it. I uploaded an mp4 video, but I got an error. It shows a yellow exclamation mark and says “Upload error”. Nothing more. None of the earlier uploaded videos on my wordpress site does not work either. It was also super slow to upload a file and I’m on a fast internet here. So what I am doing wrong? I don’t want to buy a product before testing it, so please don’t tell me that it works only if I buy a subscription.

    Thank you.

    /Lise

    Hi @zzraz ,

Thanks for reaching out to us.

I see that your site’s Jetpack installation is more than a few versions behind. For optimal performance, you will need to update your plugin to the latest version, which is 13.7.

That said, I don’t see any content uploaded to our VideoPress servers associated with your site https://www.zeezome.com.

Can you please make sure you are uploading to our VideoPress servers by following our guide here? https://jetpack.com/support/jetpack-videopress/uploading-a-video-to-jetpack-videopress/

Let us know how it goes!

Hi! I just wanted to note, if your site is in staging mode or disconnected, VideoPress will not work properly: https://jetpack.com/support/jetpack-videopress/troubleshooting-video-hosting-issues/

    Hi both!

Thank you for your replies! I have it on my staging site, and it will not work then.

    You can close this now.

    Thanks!

It works on our public site. But only if I upload it into Media. Will the VideoPress work if we store our movies on File Manager in WordPress?

    More questions:
    – Is it possible to get statistics on UNIQUE views of each videos?
    – Is it possible to remove the “Share” arrow up in the right corner of a video? We cannot reveal any URLs on our site.

    thank you!

    Hello @zzraz!

The videos need to appear on Media Library of WordPress to have VideoPress catch the video. May we know how you are adding videos in File Manager in WordPress? Do you have any custom plugin installed for that because WordPress uses the default Media Library to store any media files.

Is it possible to get statistics on UNIQUE views of each videos?

Yes we show the unique views for each video via Jetpack Stat feature: https://jetpack.com/support/jetpack-videopress/add-video-block-editor/video-stats

Is it possible to remove the “Share” arrow up in the right corner of a video? We cannot reveal any URLs on our site.

Yes you can remove the “Share” option from the player – here are the detailed steps.

    Okey cool thank you!

We need to certain that when someone watches a video mulitple times, it will only be counted as 1 view? It is a crucial feature before bying VideoPress.

If we buy VideoPress from you with 1 TB storage, will the movies be moved out of the Media library then or where do we add the movies after that?

    Thank you!

    Hi there,

We need to certain that when someone watches a video mulitple times, it will only be counted as 1 view? It is a crucial feature before bying VideoPress.

I’m just checking with our developers to make sure I give you the accurate information here.

If we buy VideoPress from you with 1 TB storage, will the movies be moved out of the Media library then or where do we add the movies after that?

The videos will still be visible in your media library, but they will be hosted and stored on our servers. Once you upgrade to a paid VideoPress plan, we recommend adding videos via this method:

Thank you Emily! Will await the answer from your developers then.

    Hi @zzraz ,

Thanks for your patience! We can confirm that unfortunately, we do not have a mechanism for counting views per user only.

We will only record a single play while the page is open. If a person reloads the page, or comes back to the page later and and watches it again then that would count as a separate play.?

I know this isn’t the answer you were hoping for, so I’m sorry if VideoPress isn’t going to be the right solution for you!

We appreciate you bringing this question to us; I have updated our documentation about VideoPress statistics so it is hopefully more clear in the future: https://jetpack.com/support/jetpack-videopress/add-video-block-editor/video-stats/

Re-opening this to it’s original subject. I can’t upload videos and have tried the dumb disconnect-reconnect Jetpack ‘solution’. The video I’m trying to upload is below the maximum file size for wordpress. Please can you point me to error logs or a kb article on how to fix this?
