Error while generating auto links
-
Hi,
Today, while trying to generate a link from Amazon UK, the generation failed with “Blocked by captcha” error. How can I solve the issue?
-
Well, oddly since I added a category, I have different error message, no more captcha error, but “Amazon Auto Links: No products found. * Message for administrator: Consider enabling the HTTP Proxies option.”
I can’t turn the auto-insert off because there is nothing in the manage auto-insert page! I don’t have any items, but I still have an error message on each page: “Amazon Auto Links: Could not resolve the given unit type, unknown. Please be sure to update the auto-insert definition if you have deleted the unit.”
I’m sorry, but it’s really not user friendly to have things turn on and no way of turning them off.
Try temporarily deactivating your caching plugin.

Unfortunately didn’t change anything.
Also I don’t understand why creating a category unblocked the captcha but deleting it didn’t pose a problem?

It’s impossible for the plugin to display auto-insert outputs when there are no auto-insert items. Post a screenshot of the Manage Auto-insert screen and the link to the page showing the auto-insert output.

It shouldn’t be that the Captcha problem went away because you created a category unit. Most likely, Web Page Dumper started functioning for your site.
You can see the output generated on my website, the link I sent earlier: https://blog.audio-tk.com/2020/10/06/book-review-too-much-and-never-enough-how-my-family-created-the-worlds-most-dangerous-man/. The “Manage auto-insert” page is empty, I don’t have anything in it. Nada. Zilch. Why does the plugin still try to insert that? Should I recreate a unit and try disable it? It smells like a bug to me.
So if the web page dumper now works, how do I fix the “no products” error?
Tried another couple of products that are available in the UK, looks like the product message is because I access Amazon US.
Still getting blocked by captcha from time to time and impossible to remove the auto-insert even after resetting the plugin. If I try to add a new unit with the manage auto-insert, I see that it’s turned on, but nothing gets created. I guess the reset is not complete? Finally managed to kill that thing. I had to go back to creating a unit, then going on manage auto insert to select the new unit and turn it off there before saving (saving without a unit doesn’t work).
So complicated…
Still have the issue with the captcha, but looks like some embed links may work sometimes at least! Why does the plugin still try to insert that? Should I recreate a unit and try disable it? It smells like a bug to me.
It seems there is a bug with auto-insert. Sorry about that. v4.5.5b01 fixes it.
So if the web page dumper now works, how do I fix the “no products” error?
If the plugin cannot find a product in fetched data, it shows the no products message. You can disable that message by going to Dashboard -> Amazon Auto Links -> Settings -> Default -> Common Advanced and select either “Do not show errors” or “Show errors as an HTML”. It is recommended to show errors while troubleshooting.
Another possibility is that the plugin is reading the old cache which contains blocked contents. In that case, you need to renew the cache manually if you don’t want to wait until it expires naturally. For caches of units, it is easy but for caches of embedded outputs, it is a bit complicated. But there is still a way to manually delete a cache. It requires the steps below:
1. Enable the plugin debug mode via Dashboard -> Amazon Auto Links -> Settings -> Misc -> Debug -> Debug Mode.
2. Go to Dashboard -> Tests -> Scratches.
3. Checkdatabase/table/aal_request_cache
in the Categories field.
4. Typesearch
in the Tags field.
5. Type an ASIN of the product you want to renew its cache for the embedded output in the Arguments field then press Start.
6. It will show some outputs in the Result section. In the output, find a cache name looking likeAAL_8d532925eebb62da1f08fc0380fb6d88
and copy it in the clipboard.
7. Go to Dashboard -> Tests -> Delete.
8. Checkdatabase/aal_request_cache
in the Categories field and enter the cache name in the Argument field then press Start.
9. To confirm it is deleted, do the step 5 again and see an empty array output. After clearing the cache, reload the page that has the embedded link and it will automatically recreate a new cache.
Still getting blocked by captcha from time to time
By default, you are using a shared Web Page Dumper server and it is slow. It is recommended to create your own one for better performance. For the instruction, see the description link in the List field of the Web Page Dumper section.
Thanks, I will try to do that. Thanks as well for the update and sorry if I was too strong while voicing my frustration, it’s still the best Amazon plugin on WordPress ??
All right, not a problem. Let me know if you get further problems.
