Error while trying to upload an image directly to a post

    Hi,

    I’ve noticed this for a while, though at first I thought it was an issue that was so obvious that would be fixed, that I ignored for a few versions. Though, after a few versions, this is starting to bother me a bit more…

    Whenever I try to upload an image directly to a post, the block shows an error message that it faced an error and it can’t show a preview. If I refresh the page, I will see my image normally.

    Similar thing happens to whenever I upload or change a cover photo, but when I do that, I must refresh the page, or I will encounter another error message if I try to edit the post.

    Once I deactivate Smush plugin, everything is fine again. So this is definitely related to Smush. Though, might be incompatibility with any other plugin I have also installed.

    We did fix an issue with media uploads in the upcoming version. It’s hard to say if it’s the exact same issue you have without seeing the actual error message, but it does look similar. The update will be out this week or early next week.

    I just checked after the update, and at least for the cover photo, this isn’t still working.

    Which kind of logs do you need? A screenshot of the screen would suffice?

    Note that, also related to this, I cannot upload a cover photo directly to the post. I need to go to the Media Library and upload it from there, and only then add it to the post.

    Any update regarding when this issue will be fixed?

    Hi @heckel,

    Sorry for the delay. I was able to replicate the issues on uploading media to the featured image section for a post. The conflicting plugin is Enhanced Media Library. But I have the errors, regardless of whether I have Smush enabled or not. Could you please check if disabling this plugin resolves all the issues?

    You can also try toggling Gutenberg Support in Smush – Integrations. Not sure if this helps your specific case.

    Apologies for the delay.

    Regarding this issue, so I did the following:
    1) I disabled Enhanced Media Library plugin, as in fairness I didn’t need it
    2) This setting was already on: Gutenberg Support in Smush – Integrations

    And yes, this helped!
