I have Jetpack 2.2.2 installed and have added the Blog Subscription (Jetpack) widget to my WordPress site. The widget shows up, but when you enter an email address to subscribe, this error appears: There was an error when subscribing, please try again.

I am new to WordPress and not sure how this can be resolved? I did have a problem installing Jetpack due to a self-signed certificate in certificate chain and followed the instructions here to get Jetpack to install:

If I use the Core Control plugin to disable the cURL Transport, everything seems to work. Is it OK to disable this?

jp4477 I am having the same error now and did reach out to Jetpack support. While I wait was wondering if you received a fix for your issue?

I’ve just started getting it too. It was working until about two hours ago. I’ve contacted Jetpack support but any help would be appreciated.

Howdy!
I’m having the same error issue with the subscription widget. I wonder if there’s a bug?
When folks try to subscribe by typing their email in, an error message pops up saying

“There was an error when subscribing, please try again.”

I looked through my subscriptions settings and couldn’t find anything that might indicate why this is happening…. Help! ??

I have downloaded jetpack already but this is what I got when I click connect to wordpress.com

“Jetpack could not contact WordPress.com: register_http_request_failed. This usually means something is incorrectly configured on your web host. connect() timed out!”

I have contacted already my host but their advise to is to contact jetpack.

Any tips on this?
