Error with Post/Page Permalinks

For the permalinks of posts, it should be /category/slug right? In my permalink, it’s missing a slash and it becomes categoryslug with no separation. It’s not just in the admin, on the site the link is also without the slash. This is also for pages, such as parentpage instead of parent/page.
