error with wordpress importer

trying to install the wordpress importer from tools and getting this error “Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in C:\xampp\htdocs\wordpress\wp-includes\class-http.php on line 1421”
how do i get rid of this error once and for all?
