  • it is asking you to CLEAR THE DATABASE , not the files from FTP ..
this means you have already created the tables needed.
if you want to work around this problem – change the prefix on the wp-config.php to something other than wp_

(not reccomanded, but then again, if you do not know what database is, it is also no reccomanded that you will do it directly there)

the database being files i had on there before i loaded the word press files?

I take it you are using or I’ll bet you are using MyPHPAdmin or whatever that thing is called to handle your databases?

Well for starters you need to FLUSH PRIVILEGES and then hope to god the thing actually syncs up with the real database.

I would use the command prompt which I do, to create and manipulate your databases.

So the bottom line is that MyPHPAdmin is too stupid to know you either killed and rebuilt your installation and/or you installed to the same directory and again MyPHPAdmin (or whatever that “childware” thing is called) and it is still insync with your web server…

Been there done that believe me…

You can go into your server and do a NET STOP MYSQL and then a NET START MYSQL and that should solve it (of course that is the Microsoft flavor)
