    Hi,

I’m getting this error too – Error: Your Google API Key is not valid for this request and permission is denied. Please check your Google API Key.

I have the correct IP address entered for restrictions, have followed all the steps. It did actually work for a few days but then I noticed it wasn’t displaying any reviews and attempted to make it work again.

    Thanks

@awa303 It sounds like you’re missing the accepted API request types in the API Key Restrictions. Check out this step of the setup again and ensure that Places API is set as allowed and you’ve also Enabled Places API in your account more generally. All of this information is available at Design Extreme as a visual guide.

@awa303 If this is all set correctly and you have a billing account setup to give you the substantial inclusive allowance, then drop me a message.

You can contact me directly if needed through the support link that goes to the Design Extreme website.

    Hi,

I followed all of these steps before, so it must be something else. Do you know what it could be? I don’t have the billing account, just the free one limited that reaches the max when u do too many requests.

    Thanks

    Hi @awa303,

The unlinked limit is really low and you’ll hit the monthly allocation very quickly. You need to have a valid payment method attached to your account so you’ll be entitled to your complementary request allocation.

I recommend also setting a quota limit in your account – but this plugin will perform a minimal number of requests per month.

Please let me know if this doesn’t work for you.

    All the best,

    Noah

@awa303 Have you checked the retrieved data for the error message listed there? Can you paste this into a reply and I’ll see if there are any more clues.

I think its now cos google needs u to have a physical business location rather than region for this plugin to work?

Google no longer lets you use service areas for the Places API i mean

@awa303 Yes, that’s quite a new a requirement from Google – they only allow Place IDs from a single physical location and not a region/coverage area.

If this has occurred since you installed the plugin, it would have collected a snapshot of valid data, but that won’t work in the long run.

As I’ve said in another post in the forum, there isn’t a work-around for this because the plugin requires data sent through the Places API.

I am still having problems with this plugin. I can not get it to work. I have gone through all of the troubleshooting steps (create new API, restrict it, set my IP, etc) and it is still not working for me.
Not sure what I am missing. When I add my API key, I get the error: Error: Your Google API Key is not valid for this request and permission is denied. Please check your Google API Key.

I have followed your troubleshooting as well as Google’s. Not sure what I am missing or doing wrong.

@annafragiorgi Please can you verify that your Place ID is found here:

    https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/javascript/examples/places-placeid-finder

If it is found here, what is your Place ID and I’ll check this on my test version?

If it is not, then Google will not send any data through its Places API. It will return the error message you’ve mentioned when the place is in fact an area/region. I’ve detailed this in another post in the forum. It is solely down to a change in Google’s policy about places and it is out of my control.

I have mentioned this issue in the FAQ and in the plugin’s setup itself.

I hope this clarifies the issue.

    @annafragiorgi (and @designextreme FYI)
