I’m a first time user hosting this from my home server. All ports are mapped and we’re all set. Installing using MAMP on my mac server. Mapped Apache doc root to users/user/sites/wordpress with default ports. But as soon as I go to localhost:8889, rather than starting an install, it downloads a small file to my desktop that reads:
    “8
    5.0.41-logr3A1lP-.,?>-g?F!m%nz>c’c’Bad handshake”

As I mentioned, I followed every direction to a T but this just wont let me pass….

    thoughts? thanks!

Worth a mention, using MAMP I’ve also tried locating the wordpress directory in the htdoc folder. There, I can manually go to the install php file in firefox, but half of its gibberish and I can’t get the installer to launch….
