• Nut sure why, but when my WordPress Dashboard is loading it’s displaying the following error. It’s also showing this on multiple windows thoughtout the dashboard. I thought this might me a permissions issues but they all look correct. Everything on the fronted seems to be functioning fine.

    Error:Remote connection error

Any ideas where this might be coming from? Or how to better troubleshoot the problem.

    Thanks in advance.

  • That’s not a WordPress error. Have you asked your hosts about this?

No. But I will. It’s on a DV at mediatemple and usually those kind of issues are not supported. Any ideas what configurations on the host would cause this?

    Thank you,

Spoke with host. They have no issues, went over Error logs and nothing pertaining to this.

Is there anyway this could be related to a plugin or file permission/owner issue?

    Thank you

    Could this error be related?

[Wed Oct 03 10:14:09 2012] [error] [client 174.45.88.238] PHP Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in /var/www/vhosts/scsunltd.com/httpdocs/wp-includes/post.php on line 1726, referer: https://scsunlimited.com/wp-admin/update-core.php

It’s certainly A.N. Serious Issue but one that relates to updating WordPress rather than general errors when moving around the back end of your site. What other errors are in the error log?

    Error:Remote connection error —>

Was a plugin Error. Linked to Smart Manager for WP E-Commerce (WPEC)

Hello rstar, thanks so much for posting- I just got a call from a client freaking out about the red warning message!

Have you managed to remove the warning by any chance? I tried the Smart Manager update, but it gives me a second red warning box.

    (@rstar)

After I updated SmartManager to 2.7.1 from I believe 2.7, the error did resolve itself. However I am now having problems with updating order status and bulk selecting. Anything like this on your end?

Have you tried to deactivating the plugin all together?

Hello…I got a response from Smart Apps. This is what they said, and you will need to open a ticket to receive the upgrade file.

Yes, this error is related with Smart Manager, you can ignore this error, as it will not conflict with functionality of Smart Manager or any other plugin.

I have not applied this yet.
    Regards,

Please find attached zip file, after extracting you’ll get file named ‘upgrade.php’, copy it & paste at ‘wp-content/plugins/smart-manager-for-wp-e-commerce/pro’ (replace if asked). Hope it’ll remove that message.

Ah, thanks so much for the info rstar! I will open a ticket and see if we can’t get our hands on the upgrade file.

    Cheers

Rstar- We don’t do too much with orders, but we are indeed having issues with bulk selecting, and Smart Manager also seems to be causing some javascript errors as well. Also the new search function is killing us. It seems to be a wild card search that also now goes through the descriptions as well. So if we are searching for a product called “Macbook Pro”, it will now return any other product that mentions the string “pro” or “Macbook” in the title, sku, or description.

For the record, I opened up a ticket, and just got the update.php file from Smart Apps support.

The warning is gone, which is good, but all of the previously mentioned issues remain.
