After last update the dashboard on posts died completely, and the following errors emerged

    SyntaxError: Unexpected identifier
    /wp-content/plugins/wordpress-seo/js/dist/commons-812.min.js?ver=8.1.2:6

    ReferenceError: yoastWebpackJsonp is not defined
    /wp-content/plugins/wordpress-seo/js/dist/wp-seo-admin-global-812.min.js?ver=8.1.2:1

    SyntaxError: Invalid or unexpected token
    /wp-content/plugins/wordpress-seo/js/dist/wp-seo-wp-globals-backport-812.min.js?ver=8.1.2:6

    SyntaxError: Invalid or unexpected token
    /wp-content/plugins/wordpress-seo/js/dist/components-812.min.js?ver=8.1.2:7

Restored back to previous, dash still dead, no fields or functions in posts, fewer errors

    SyntaxError: Unexpected token /
    /wp-content/plugins/wordpress-seo/js/dist/wp-seo-babel-polyfill-542.min.js?ver=5.4.2:2

    SyntaxError: Invalid or unexpected token
    /wp-content/plugins/wordpress-seo/js/dist/wp-seo-admin-542.min.js?ver=5.4.2:14

I’ve used this tool for a few years but never encountered problems like this.

    Thanks

For me the solution was to go back to the laest 7.x version

    https://github.com/Yoast/wordpress-seo/releases

    activated 7.9.1, hey presto!

This could also be caused by a plugin or theme conflict. Can you try and gather as much information for us as possible? Please perform the following:
    1. Make sure the issue doesn’t persist when Yoast SEO is disabled.
    2. Check for conflicts.
    3. Check for JavaScript errors with your console.
If you find any JavaScript errors related to Yoast SEO or if there is a conflict with a plugin or a theme, you can create a new GitHub issue for our developers. Please report the issue to a third party developer as well.
If you didn’t find any conflicts or errors, we think the issue is specific to your site. We’d need to investigate further but are unable to do so on these forums. You can purchase Yoast SEO Premium and receive our Premium email support and we can help you further.

    Thanks

    1. errors gone when disabling plugin.
    2. errors remain gone when reverting to current (7.9.1)
    3. all other plugins as before upgrades
    4. I also noticed a (substantial) performance improvement when downgrading to 7.9.1

My preliminary conclusion is that the conflict must have been related to the update and/or an instigated by, or related to, a conflict elsewhere.

It’s possible that there is indeed a conflict with one of your other plugins or themes if you encounter these issues with Yoast SEO for WordPress v8.2.
