    Hello!

WordPress, not The SEO Framework, generates that sitemap.

We have not encountered this issue before when the WordPress sitemap is used in combination with The SEO Framework. It could be that you switched from WordPress’s to The SEO Framework’s sitemap, which in turn will disable WordPress’s sitemap; then, when Google tries to fetch the non-existent sitemap from WordPress, it’ll result in an error.

If you wish for me to inspect the issue, please share the URL of your sitemap.

    Thank you!

I see you’re using an HTML minifying plugin. Those should never be active on XML sitemaps because those aren’t HTML.

I recommend excluding the sitemap URLs in the minifying/caching plugin and sending a bug report to the plugin authors of that plugin.

I disabled the Autoptimize plugin but the error persists.

    Hello!

At “SEO Settings > Sitemap Settings > Metadata”, please check “Add <lastmod> to the sitemap?”. This should resolve the issue.

You can reenable Autoptimize; I was looking at the issue wrongly.

Could you tell me where you got notified of the error?

Including <lastmod> does not fix the error. The error is displayed in the Google Search Console.

    Hi again!

I see you’ve switched back to the default TSF sitemap. With that, I trust the issue is resolved?

Mind that Google Search Console can still give errors for the sitemaps no longer accessible. Changes to your site don’t get reflected instantly in their reports: They must visit and reprocess your pages to spot the differences, which they do at irregular intervals.
