The Plugin has good potential, but an export error occurs that renders it useless: in a form field defined as ‘field type: paragraph’, the text content is not properly exported in CSV because whenever a paragraph occurs in the text (with the ‘enter’ key), its content will end up spread over several columns when imported into Excel. This completely ruins the job…

One solution would be to turn this field into ‘Field Type: Text’, but then on the form the message box is extremely small (only one line) which makes it impossible to insert long text (like, for example, an ‘abstract’ submission field).

Is there a solution to this?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi @albertosa

If you export a fresh CSV and open it in Notepad, is the data formatted correctly then? Usually with issues like this we find the CSV is correct, and 99% of the time the issue is the way that Excel processes the data when opening the file.

The workaround is to open a blank workbook instead of opening your file directly in Excel. Then, you can import the CSV from the Data > From Text/CSV menu option. You will get a preview of the data with different encoding options before importing. Unless you have an unusual WordPress configuration, the default encoding should be fine, and you’ll see the CSV opened correctly in Excel using this method.

If you have any trouble with this, I would recommend reaching out to the Microsoft Excel support team for assistance.

    Best,
    Nathanael.

    Thank you for your reply.

I managed to solve the problem (by trial and error): instead of importing the CSV directly into Excel, I did it via Google Sheets instead… It worked perfectly, and without any formatting erros. Here’s the tip: Google is smarter than Microsoft…
