This WPForms plugin has great potential, but there is an export error that makes it useless: in a form field defined as ‘paragraph text’ (“Field Size: Large”), the text content is not properly exported in CSV. Whenever a paragraph occurs in the text (with the ‘enter’ key) its content will end up spread over several columns when imported into Excel as CSV, no matter the delimiters you choose. This completely ruins the job.

I think one solution would be to turn this field into simple text, as long it allows long text insertion

I think one solution would be to convert this field into a plain text type, as long as it continues to allow the insertion of long text with paragraph breaks (like, for example, for an ‘abstract’ submission field).

Is there a solution to this?

    Many thanks in advance.

    Hi @albertosa,

    Thanks for reaching out!

I noticed you’re using WPForms Lite on the page you shared.

However, exporting entries to Excel or CSV is a paid feature available with WPForms Pro. With WPForms Lite, you can set up form notifications to send form submission details to your preferred email address.

If you’re exporting data from your paragraph field to a CSV/Excel file, you might be using a third-party plugin, which we are unable to support directly.

If you’re using a third-party plugin, you could reach out to the plugin’s author/support team to share details of the issue. They’d hopefully be able to help!

    I hope this helps!

    Thank you for your reply.

You are right, I use another plugin (Database for WPforms) that allows exporting to CSV.

However, I managed to solve the problem (by trial and error): instead of importing the CSV directly into Excel, I did it via Google Sheets instead… It worked perfectly, and without any formatting erros. Here’s the tip: Google is smarter than Microsoft…

    Hi @albertosa,

Thanks for letting me know you solved the issue by opening the CSV file via Google Sheets.

Just a heads up, you can’t open a CSV file directly in Excel — you need to import it. If it helps, here’s a guide on how to do that.

It looks like you’ve marked this post as resolved. If you’d like more help with using WPForms Lite, please feel free to reach out.

    Thanks!
