Errors in Plugin Screen

    When I try to delete a plugin from the plugin’s screen I get the following error:

    Error 500 – Internal server error

    An internal server error has occured!
    Please try again later.

    I’m also having problems with a few plugins (mainly google-sitemap-generator), where they appear in the list, but when I try to use the edit link, I get the menu on the left and just a blank screen, or if I try to active the plugin, I get the above error again.

    I’ve tried to make the permissions to a 777, but this didnt seem to work. I’ve also re-downloaded and uploaded all new versions of each plugin. Most work fine and can be activated, but the google-sitemap-generator has no joy at all. I tried to delete the “Hello Dolly” plugin from the plugin screen and got the above error, so not sure what to do?

    This has been since upgrading my site to the latest version of wordpress.

    Can anyone help please?
