    Dear Weston,

Many thanks for creating and supporting this plugin.

We have installed it successfully and added the shortname and maskable icon per your separate instructions.

We have since noticed that Google Chrome Inspector shows errors for our site’s PWA in the Console and we can’t understand what is causing these errors:

Would you mind having a look and helping us to identify what causes them, i.e. how to fix them?

Many thanks for your help with this.

    Kind regards,

    Pairfum London

Sorry, I missed your support topic. What was the error specifically?

    Dear @westonruter

Many thanks for your reply and our apologies for the late response (Christmas, New Year).

These are the errors that we are seeing:

    OnPaste.20210112-152312

    OnPaste.20210112-152352

We initially thought that the errors were caused by Cloudflare’s ‘Rocket Loader’ but de-activating / by-passing Cloudflare did not make any difference to the error we are seeing.

To us, it looks like the main issue is the web manifest not loading.

Your help with these errors is very much appreciated.

    Kind regards,

    Pairfum London

@pairfumlondon Sorry, for some reason I didn’t get any notifications for your replies. But I did for @amarudare for some reason.

@pairfumlondon It looks like you’ve since deactivated the PWA plugin.

@amarudare In your case, I can see that that the manifest is indeed in the page in a link[rel=manifest] element, and If I access that URL directly it does load in the browser. However, if I then open DevTools and go to the Application tab it says “No manifest detected”.

I don’t see anything wrong with your site which would cause the manifest to fail to load.

In fact, if I open Firefox and go to the Manifest tab in Firefox Developer Tools, it does not fail to load. This seems like a bug in Chrome itself, somehow.

@pairfumlondon Can you re-enable PWA on your site? I want to share your URL with someone on the Chrome team to determine why the manifest is failing to load.

    Dear @westonruter

Many thanks for picking up this thread again. We had given up on you.

Following your post here, we have reactivated your PWA plugin with these two additions:
    – short name: https://gist.github.com/westonruter/dec7d190060732e29a09751ab99cc549
    – manifest: https://github.com/GoogleChromeLabs/pwa-wp/issues/304

We ran a Lighthouse test after the re-installation and all seems to be in order now! I don’t know which changes you made but the issue is fixed for us now.

I look forward to hearing back from you.

    Kind regards,

    Pairfum London

@pairfumlondon Strangely I am still not seeing any email notifications from you! I’m glad it is working now and I can indeed see the manifest is loading in Chrome when I visit your site.

@amarudare I’m not aware of a temporary workaround. I’ll ping someone on the Chrome team next week if they don’t follow up before then.
