Errors when trying to switch themes

  • I have set up a theme viewing site (just a pure clean install of wordpress on a subdomain with no plugins or anything) so that i can install themes that i like and want to keep for future updates on my sites.

    All the themes upload fine and work but if i go through too many changes then i start getting exception errors and no matter what theme i go to (including the original wordpress themes) i cannot log out or anything so have to connect via ftp, delete all the themes but the wordpress originals and log in etc and then copy all the themes back again..

    This is becoming pretty tiring and i was wondering if there was a limit as to how many themes you can have installed which might be causing the error!? Is there another way of having all the themes installed for quick and easy viewing etc?!

  • Do you have shortcodes in your themes? Off top of my head I’m thinking something is being called in one that a plugin or something needs and it’s ‘erroring’ as doesn’t find it on theme change.

    That all being said – if you are running without any plugins or custom code then if you could check your error logs (or talk to your hosting to get them checked). That may shed a bit more light on what is going on.
