Essentials Addons- jetpack CRM

I am using the jetpack crm. I have added a fomr for contacts to sign in. This is suppose to send me an email notification. I’ve been trying to figure this out and all I end up with is more frustration.I can not recieve an email without installing the WP SMTP by another plugin. I don’t want to use that plugin because they hold your contacts hostage.
Why if one follows the directions given to setup the plugin does not result in a workable product?
