European characters not appearing

Hi – thanks for a great plugin!
Ive seen plenty unsolved posts in this forum re european charactares not appearing, but none solved.
E.g if a guest name is “G?ran”, and he wants to rsvp – it says none found when he types in his name.
Surely there must be a not too complicated way to include extended latin characters?
Please, please help!!!
