Evaluate Paid Courses and membership plugins

Is it right that if we have the WooCommerce Paid Courses or Sensei with WooCommerce Paid Courses to sell courses, only the customers who buy courses through Woocommerce have the access to these courses? Can other people who have the link to a course access the course without buying it?
Can’t tell if WooCommerce Memberships is needed in case of just selling courses to anyone who want to buy.
Also, with Paid Courses plugin, can we schedule weekly courses or weekly lessons, such as the customers have the access to a (next) lesson every Monday? If not, is it possible to prevent the access to next lesson before finishing all the previous lessons in a course.
We are in the process to evaluate different plugins to see what we need.
