Even public category content asking for password

I have an entire section of my site (1 Category plus it’s sub categories) that isn’t supposed to require a login. I figured that by simply not assigning the category a Role, that would be possible. However the login form still appears and the titles are still masked. How do you leave a certain category unprotected?
