I am using the Quick Event Manager on a clients website. Everything has been working fine for a while, up until recently. The site recently updated to WordPress 4.4.1, and I noticed today that the News and Events page is no longer functioning as it was. The links to the single events are no longer links. I had it set up for the “find out more” caption to link to the single event rather than the title of the event, and it was working, but now it is no longer a link. My client recently updated the events, so I went through the events he created but everything looks okay. I also went through the settings for the plugin but I can’t find anything that would remove the link from the “find out more” caption. Although I did notice that the Template area in the settings says the theme doesn’t have the single.php file needed to create a template, but there is a created template in the child theme and a single.php file in the parent theme. Unfortunately I can’t remember if this was working before or not, I just know I did create a template when I first set up the plugin back in August of last year I think it was.
The link to the event page is https://danshouseofhope.org/?page_id=23

As of now the events list will not take visitors to the single events due to the “find out more” caption no longer being links.

The same problem is also on the home page where I have the Quick Event List widget. The “find out more” captions are no longer links on the widget either, even though it is set up to show the link to the events and to link to events list with anchor text “show full event list” which is not showing up. There is a display issue with this widget now.

Any help with these issues will be greatly appreciated since this site does get a lot of traffic.

  • Hi Rachel,

Not sure why updating WordPress would affect the links. however, try installing the update on this page and see if it fixes things: https://quick-plugins.com/quick-event-manager/qem-update/

I installed the update and while the event widget on the home page “Find out more” caption is now a link, the event manager list on the News and Events page still has the “Find out more” caption as just text and not a link. Plus for some weird reason the “Return to Event List” link is on the event manger list when it should only be on single events.

It’s almost impossible to fond a solution without seeing the settings. Can you contact me via the plugn site with a temporary login so I can see what’s going on in the dashboard as I can’t reproduce the problem

Have you disabled the links on the event title and image? This seems to remove the links from the read more.

I’ve fixed this bug. Contact me and I’ll send over an update to test

Sorry for the late reply. I have disabled links on the event title and image, which did not cause an issue originally, but if it has caused an issue before then that could be the culprit. Do you need my email to send the update to?

If the update doesn’t work I can give you temporary access to the site if needed.

The update fixed the “Find out more” link issue, but the “Return to Event List” link is still on the News and Events page. This link is only supposed to be on a single event to return to the event list, and was never on the event list before. Is there a way to remove this link?

That’s what happens when I try to rush things before going to work (the plugins are just a hobby thing).

Download again, it should be ok now.

    Fixed!

I understand, but thank you very much for helping me with this issue despite this being a hobby and you having a job that I’m sure takes up a lot of your time. I greatly appreciate how quickly you have responded.

    No probs,

    Glad it’s all sorted now.

Closing thread as it’s been fixed. The fix will be in the next update
