We are using the Event Manager to manager our classroom training at https://www.microassist.com. In trying to optimize for SEO I see a lot of duplicate content penalties in Google Search Console. Here’s a sample report. Any thoughts on how to fix that?

    I can’t address you problem directly…

But if you could take a minute of your time…

I’m in my Google Search Console..
where is this notice generated ?

For me.. I see three columns…
    MyWebsites Notices Manage Properties

is the notice you are seeing in the middle column “Notices” ?
Mine is No new messages or recent critical issues.

Is that where you see the “problem” aka “Notice” of duplication.

I have lots of recurring events.. and events that span for example Monday to Friday.

I looked at one of your first or second link you posted above…
    https://www.microassist.com/classroom-training/course-schedule/?begdate=1920-07-01&PageFormat=ByDate

and I see this on the page…
Course Schedule by Date for July 01, 1920 through October 01, 1920

I click on the “Next Three Months” link and it generates the next link you posted above for.. /classroom-training/course-schedule/?begdate=1921-01-01&PageFormat=ByDatee

Goodness gracious ?? How are you generating Events back in the 1920’s ? and thusly to 1955.

Perhaps you have done something in recurring events…
I would look at your site and look at the recurring events.. and just delete those.. unless it screws up your website .

    In your basic course schedule..
    https://www.microassist.com/classroom-training/course-schedule/

It all looks normal. and clicking on the “Next Three Months” works fine.

Maybe in “beta” testing those “historic” events were created…

Or maybe Bill Gates has a time machine and reinvented history ??

good luck… I’m not part of support.. just poke my nose in when things are slow on my end.

Thank you for responding. In Google Search Console I go to

Search Appearance, HTML Improvements, Duplicate Title Tags

When I click on the links I don’t see any data. It mystifies me why that date range exists.

    I’ll look inside Recurring Events.

My assumption was that it looks like on your normal “course schedule” it has recurring events.
It may also be single events. You’ll discover this I am sure.

Thanks for pointing out the info on the Google Webmaster tool section…
with the voice of Johnny Carson… “I did not know this.”

Cool beans ! I am all clean . With my many recurring events and as mentioned Monday through Friday type.

Good luck hope it works out ??

I did a search on Google for (one of the links above)
    /course-schedule/?begdate=1920-07-01&PageFormat=ByDate

And it doesn’t return anything.. I might be that because it was “scored” as duplicate content… it doesn’t appear in the index.

At this point… you may have discovered if those events are on your website or not..

If they are not on your website… Maybe resubmit you Google SiteMaps.

I think if the problem persists… you poke around and or ask questions at.. in the appropriate “Google” forum…

Very helpful and about the best around… I’ve been there over 10 years.

Just to add… it might be possible with an SEO plugin or custom code to “noindex” the base structure of your archives…

Google Search Console does allow you to kill of things that start with ?begdate. Hopefully I did it correctly. I’m still curious why it’s being generated.
