    Hello,
I am struggling with setting up a specific order of showing categories in the weekly or monthly view. I am not using the calendar for entries the have a specific time, and the category IDs were not necessarily created in order.
How can force the calendar to show the categories in an order I want?
On that linked page for example I would like to have all the attendance on the same first line but for some reasons they sometime popped down one line…
I tried to change the shortcode and see if the order of the listed categories there would influence the published events, but that didn’t change a thing.

    Thanks for your help!

That’s an interesting problem. You need the events listed in a specific order based on category. Should the order of categories always be the same, or would that vary in some way?

Honestly, your easiest solution might be to assign the events a time, but hide the time output so it’s not visible. That would give you the sorting in an easy manner.

You can remove the time from the template (if you haven’t already) by editing the text templates at My Calendar > Settings > Text. I can see that you’ve already hidden the time block in the event details pop-up.

Beside one category, “attendance” who should come first thing, the order for the other categories doesn’t really matter. It really is a question of making it work visually.
I did what you said and just added times to all the events to force an order, it was a little time consuming but will work just fine moving forward.
Would be great if the order you list the categories in the shortcode (ex: [my_calendar category=”11,12,2,3,4,5,10,8″ format=”calendar” time=”week”]) would actually dictate the order of viewing if no times are entered. But we got a solution ??

    Thanks for your help!

It’s an interesting idea, and I can look into it…but it’s not a super-easy change to make, unfortunately. ??
