Event Settings: loss of Item Schema customization (v4.0 to v4.2)

I’ve been using v4.0.1, and I’ve customized the Item Schema (in Settings/Events), as follows:
<%child% class="event_item %class%" data-color="%color%"> <a href="%event_link%"> <strong>%event_title%</strong> </a> %event_thumbnail% %event_excerpt% %event_date% %event_location% </%child%>

However, after updating to 4.2.0, the Settings/Events page no longer shows the default Item Schema code, nor will it accept any custom codes, settings, etc. Result of accepting changes says “Event settings saved!”, but nothing is changed, and the Page code only prints, instead of executing.

Note that the 4.2 image has no default code.
I’ve rolled back to 4.0.1, but can you troubleshoot this? Do I need to de-install plug-in and re-install, rather then update? Other suggestions?
