I had started a support forum topic at https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/fatal-error-on-plugins-page-elsewhere-with-the-events-calendar-v6-1-0/ since updating The Events Calendar to version 6.1.0 caused a fatal error in various spots of my site (then happening across multiple sites.)

However, digging deeper, I found that the affected sites have Event Tickets installed on them and the error messages ended up pointing at an issue with Event Tickets calling Freemius in a way that causes an error.

Additional details are in that original support forum topic linked above. I just wanted to mention this here just in case this is the plugin that’s needing an update instead of The Events Calendar (while it could still be the other way around or maybe even both) since both are involved in the fatal errors that are being encountered.

    Hi there,
    ?
    Thank you for sharing that!
    ?
I can see that our developers have already noticed that error, and we’re working on releasing a hotfix to make sure that issue will not happen again.
    ?
For now, the best move would be to downgrade back to the previous Events Calendar version until a new version is released.

You can read how to downgrade our plugins at https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/k/accessing-older-plugin-versions/.

Hi @kzeni, no worries. Appreciate you bringing this to our attention.

We’ve released a fix for the fatal error for TEC 6.1.0 → 6.1.0.2 here:
    https://theeventscalendar.com/release-notes/the-events-calendar/the-events-calendar-6-1-0-2/

As always, to be safe we recommend testing on the staging site first. Please let us know if the error persists.

    Best,
    Abz

It looks to be working now. Thanks for the update!

The Events Calendar – 6.1.0.2 (and update to 6.1.1)
The Events Calendar Pro – 6.1.0
Event Tickets – 5.5.11 (and update to 5.6.0)

    Still critical error.
(deactivated for now since we don’t use tickets on THIS site anymore, but have it on another site as well, so should be fixed anyway)

@shadow772 What error are you being given when using WP_DEBUG and/or Query Monitor (or similar)? Can’t really say what the issue is that you’re having without that as I have sites running those same versions (also having used TEC 6.1.0.2 + ET 5.5.11.1 and upgrading them to 6.1.1 + 5.6.0, respectively [also having various sites with & without The Events Calendar Pro and/or Event Tickets Plus, also latest versions, being thrown into the mix]) and I’m not having a critical error on any of these (it was really just the TEC 6.1.0 and ET 5.5.11.1 that had an issue that was fixed by TEC 6.1.0.2 & subsequent plugin versions.)

The actual error that was confirmed to be happening for this support forum topic has been resolved. As such, if you’re still experiencing issues, you should probably open a new topic (supplying the actual error message from WP_DEBUG/etc. that is very helpful, if not outright needed, to properly identify the issue) to then discuss that different issue as it likely will have a different solution.

    Hi @shadow772 ,

I tested the updates as well and cannot replicate this specific error. If you are still having the same error that was originally reported in this thread please let us know. If you are experiencing a different error, please share the error (with no sensitive information) in a new thread along with the plugin versions and PHP version. We will make sure to test for any new errors in the new thread and help you as best we can.

    Thanks!
