Event Title Not Showing

Hey @mburke79,

Is there any chance you could activate a default theme like Twenty Fifteen or something? If so, does the title show up fine in that theme?

It seems like your current theme’s single template might be ignoring the title of the event post altogether….

I activated TwentyFourteen and had the same result. The event title is not showing on the events page, only on the individual event.

What do you suggest?

Man, this is odd. The title does show on the single event post itself but not the main calendar archive page.

Like George, I was unable to recreate the issue in WordPress’ Twenty Fifteen theme. Have you tried deactivating the other plugins that are installed on the site while in Twenty Fifteen? Just want to make sure the issue is not a conflict with the theme or another plugin.

If you are still seeing the issue in those conditions, it would awesome if we could see it like that. I realize that might not be feasible with a live site, so perhaps a test site would help here so we can troubleshoot conflicts together.

Ok. First I tried updating everything (WordPress, Theme, Plugins) to see if that would help. It did not.

Second, I installed and activated TwentyFifteen and deactivated every plug-in except The Event Calendar. No affect.

This is very odd indeed. I’ve never had any issue with this plug in before…

For the time being, I’m going to use an alternate plug in, but I would like to resolve this as I would prefer to use The Event Calendar.

I’m happy to create a test site but I’m not exactly sure what you mean…

I’m sorry your issue has persisted and that you’ve had to use an alternative calendar plugin!

There are only two courses of action I can think of to try and further troubleshoot things:

1. First is to try out the new version of The Events Calendar, version 3.12 – this has been published since your thread here started, and while it might not be likely that simply updating to 3.12 will resolve your issues here, it’s worth an attempt because the code is better regardless.
2. Otherwise, if simply upgrading to 3.12 does not help, then the only other thing I can think of for testing here would be to run through the complete set of troubleshooting steps we have outlined here → https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/testing-for-conflicts/. This takes the basic theme test we already recommended –?and which you already tried – and extends it to all of the plugins on your site, too. This process would reveal a possible plugin conflict if one exists, which could be the case here.

I totally understand if doing yet more theme and plugin tests on your site is not something you’re not interested in. If you’d rather just close this thread and use the alternative Calendar plugin for now, I’m sorry we couldn’t get things working but understand your decision to do so.

If you want to keep digging into this issue in hopes of using The Events Calendar, steps #1 and #2 I listed above are the next best steps I can think of. ??
