Event triggering "current_page_parent" parent class for blog posts

Setup: static front page, blog posts under the “News” page.
But whenever an event is displayed, both the the “Events” and the “News” menu items are lit up, caused by the class “current_page_parent”.I’ve set events to be displayed as Pages in settings, deleted it and added it again, same problem.
Any ideas? (Or, since events are technically posts, is this “works as designed”?)
