After upgrading to the most recent TEC version and completing the data migration (did not have any errors or issues), the admin view of “Events” now has a very strange issue.

The name of the first event in the list (ex. Orientation) is repeated for every event on that page. This happens for each page in the admin view. On page 2, the first event in the list is “International Student Connect Program…” This name is then used for every event on that admin view page. On page 3, the first event in the list is named, “See and Talk to an ISA”, so every event on that page in the admin view uses that name. And so on.

If you open any event to edit it as a single event, the data is fine – the post ID is correct, title is correct, category is correct, start/end date, etc. Within the admin view the other data is correct – category, start/end date, etc. It’s only the event name that repeats itself on the admin view, using the first event in the list on that page. This is only happening with Events – not Venues, Organizers, regular Posts, or any other Custom Post Type.

Here’s what I’ve done so far without any resolution:

    • Updated WP version
    • Rolled back to PHP 7.4
    • Updated all other plugins
    • Deactivated all other plugins
    • Tried a different theme
    • Deactivated/reactivated TEC plugin
    • Deleted and then reinstalled TEC plugin (via WP interface)
    • Used QueryMonitor to check for PHP error and reviewed PHP error logs – no errors
    • No JS errors
    • No warnings/errors in the TEC event log
    • Confirm issue is only with TEC, not other posts or CPTs – only happens with “Events” admin page, not Venues or Organizers

I am waiting on approval to purchase a premium licence so I can connect with support, however in the meantime… has anyone ever seen anything like this?

  • Hey @niagaracollege,

    Thanks for reaching out!

We do have an issue like what you are describing where event titles repeat in the admin when Memcached and/or the Object Cache is turned on on a multi-site installation. Does this describe your situation?

    Possibly: TEC-4690

    Hi @niagaracollege

Thanks for reaching out, and my sincerest apologies for the inconvenience.

We have already received some reports with the same issue you’re experiencing. By any chance, are you on a Multi-site setup where the Object cache is enabled from your server?

If so, could you try to disable the Object cache and check if that makes a difference?

Let me know how it goes.

Hi, yes, we are running a multisite with object cache enabled. I disabled object cache and can confirm that the issue is no longer present. The post names are no longer repeating.

Thanks so much for your prompt reply! It’s much appreciated!

    Hi there,
    ?
With our latest release of?The Events Calendar 6.1.0, we resolved an issue regarding a conflict with Object Cache causing duplicated event titles in the WordPress admin.
    ?
We recommend that you update The Events Calendar to the latest released versions.?As always, we suggest testing updates on a staging site first and having a recent backup ready, but it should all be smooth sailing. If you implemented any workarounds, you can remove them after updating the plugins.
    ?
If you still have issues after updating to the latest releases, please open a new support thread and include as many specific details as possible.
    ?
    Have a great day,
    Events Calendar Support Team
