Events appearing out of order?

    I’m in the process of setting up events to display in a list on my events page. I’ve noticed that I have several events that appear out of order, and I can’t quite figure out how to adjust it.

    You can see my setup here (don’t mind the bare-bones look of the site ?? )

    Ideally, I would like to have the events display in reverse chronological order, with the earlier events starting at the bottom, and later events showing up at the top. At the moment, though, events are organized in a strange way. I think they might be organized by the post date, rather than the event date.

    Currently, the events are listed like so:
    -September 2014
    -July 2014
    -August 2014

    When in fact, it should look like this:
    -September 2014
    -August 2014
    -July 2014

    If anyone could help me with this, I would be so grateful! If it helps, I don’t have any plugins that clash with this…

    Hi DeadSuperHero,

    By default, events should show in chronological order, with the next upcoming events at the top of the List View. If you want to show those in reverse chronological order, you’ll need to dig into the code and customize it. That’s not something we can help you with here on the forum.

    I do want to make sure the calendar is at least behaving correctly though. Have you tried deactivating all other plugins to look for a conflict, or switching to a default theme like Twenty Twelve? If you need help, please read this guide to testing for conflicts.

    If you can isolate this as an issue that’s inherent to The Events Calendar, we’d be happy to look into it further. Unfortunately, we can’t help troubleshoot conflicts here on the free forum. If you do find a conflict, you can try getting in touch with the developer of the theme or plugin and see if they can shed some light on the issue.

    Hi Leah!

    I’ve gone ahead and tested it out with other themes, but the problem persists.

    I guess at this point, I’m just trying to get the events to line up in some sort of order. Most of the entries are fine, but August events seem to show up before July and September.

    That is fair! Order is good.

    This seems a strange issue to me. The first thing I would try is disabling all other plugins and switching to the Twenty Thirteen theme, then retest. It sounds like you have done this, but be sure you have before wasting your time on other steps because that is the most probable issue.

    If that does not fix it, you might try a few things:
    * Change your permalinks to something other than default.
    * Check the events publish dates, are is the Septembe one published before the one that appears in July? Are thery for some unknown reason appearing in published order?
    * Delete the 3 events and create new ones with the same content. Preferably create the July one first, then Aug, then Sept.

    I have been unable to reproduce this problem on my test server in spite of my trying to use your sites same settings and data. Hopefully the above steps can help resolve this.
