my website nyc-ncatalumni.org was using the 3.1 version of Events Calendar. We updated just a while ago to the latest version and the entire site went down – we couldn’t access the admin panel or view it from the front-facing side.
We use the Politician theme. It seems like this update may be incompatible with that theme, is there a way to restore the plugin to an older version?

Please disregard – I found the previous version of the plugin and re-installed.

    Howdy nycncatalumni,

Any update from prior to 3.3 will run an update script. For a site with a lot of events, this can seemingly “shut down” your admin area. The script is running in the background though. And if you give it a while, sometimes even refreshing the pages every few minutes, it will finish.

I know this is a pain. I am very sorry for it and a bit ashamed. That script was obviously not our best designed idea, and it is something we have learned from.

I do recommend upgrading when you can. And, when you do it, simply try loading WP Admin until it shows up. It might take a few minutes. If that doesn’t work, try hitting refresh. You might night to let it timeout then hit refresh a feww times, though typically not many. Eventually the Admin area loads, and you’re golden. No more issues. ??

    Cheers!

    – Brook
