Events do not display, something not working…

You need to add a widget or short-code with appropriate settings for your dates and slugs then something will be displayed. Check out the help tab on the admin screen if you need more information about the options.

I’ve entered into all of the fields and confirmed per the help section.

It’s supposed to show up in the widget but just isn’t there.

I don’t have enough information to help you. The plugin is working fine on many sites and normally the reason events are not showing is that they aren’t supposed to show (i.e. they aren’t for today).
