Events don't display?

Hi,
I’m not at all technical!
But – I created a new calendar – followed the instructions & inserted the short code onto my page.
(a)Calendar appears – but events I put into it don’t?
I’m sure this is me error – but I’m stumped?
Any help much appreciated!
