Events Happening Right Now
-
I love this plugin, and thank you so much for its versatility. I am using it to display a conference program. Each session in the conference has a start and end time on a specific date. The dates and times, along with a lot of speaker and topic info, are stored in Advanced Custom Fields.
I had the idea this morning that it would be convenient to show events “happening now” in real time, during the days of the conference itself. This would entail querying ACF fields to see if the current timestamp is between the session start and end dates. I’ve looked at your tutorials for a couple event calendar plugins:
https://displayposts.com/2019/01/04/display-upcoming-events-from-the-events-calendar/
https://displayposts.com/2019/01/03/display-upcoming-events-from-sugar-event-calendar/
… but these are hard-coded. I could probably adapt these, but that would blow up my usage of Display Posts to render the program as it is now at:
https://www.immunology2023.org/program/.I think I know the answer to this, but I don’t suppose there is a way to do a date-range query to ACF fields through the shortcode. If there’s no easy way, I can look at hijacking the query (as done for the events plugin tutorials), but just for one specific page where the “happening now” would appear.
Thanks again for the great plugin and all the thoughtful tutorials and support. You are an inspiration.
