• I woke up to discover that EM had been updated on all my course websites, with the result that my events lists are all really big and spaced out. EM6.0 provides some really compelling options for restyling events lists, and you were thoughtful enough to put those in Preview mode to give existing users a chance to decide whether to use them.

    BUT changes to the font size and the spacing of items in events lists show even when the site is in Preview mode (i.e. the mode that claims that “only site admins can see the changes.”

    Worse, when I try to fix these changes by adding lines to my site’s Child Theme, I find that you folks have made that difficult by adding the !important tag to a BUNCH of the lines in your code. For instance:

    .em .em-list-widget .em-item .em-item-info .em-item-meta .em-item-meta-line p, .em.em-list-widget .em-item .em-item-info .em-item-meta .em-item-meta-line p, .em.pixelbones li {
        margin-bottom:5px !important
    }

    Really frustrated by this. I realize you folks are looking forward to the new look of 6.0, but it’s vital that users busy with other stuff (like teaching an intensive 6-week summer semester) not have to upend their website due to the new plugin changing the look of their website.

    Also, the right pane event list shows the new iconised template layout which wastes lots of space even when in preview mode (for normal, non-admin users!).
    I was able to disable this by setting “Enable Theme Styling?” to off, but then the new search pane displays completely unstyled (all search fields visible).

    I also miss an option to have the old single search input field visible (which is way enough for my users to find events) and nothing else. We do not need all these new fancy search options.

    Some of the issues (like the giant font on the events list) have been fixed in 6.0.1, but the wide line spacing of the event list remains an issue.

    The calendar widget in the header got HUGE on my site, I simply eliminated it from that location, though I would have preferred to keep it. Instead I have a button for info on our next meeting, which is most important. Hopefully this can be fixed in a later version.

    Marcus, regarding the “new iconised template layout which wastes lots of space’ referred to above. I did send a screenprint of this and other issues …via the EMPro Support forum yesterday.

    Has anyone found a solution to the problem of excessive space between items on event lists?
    The only way I found to fix was to revert to version 5.12.1
    Thanks

    I think this issue HAS been addressed. The labelling has changed a bit in recent updates, but in the latest version, 6.1.2.1, you can turn off EM’s new formatting by clicking on “Styling Options” in the General tab of the EM settings page, then choosing “No” in response to “Enable All Styling.”

    If you wish to revert to the original concise mini calendar widget, do this:

    PATH:

    your website

    public_html

    wp-content

    themes

    theme-child

    create new:

    “plugins” folder

    “events-manager”
    “templates”
    ->add copy in version 5 file:
    “calendar-small.php”
