    Hello,

I’m using Events manager 5.5.2 on a WordPress 3.8.1 website and it worked well. Now, suddenly, it displays 404 errors on my events pages. I tried to configure permalinks by default (instead of “/%postname%/”) : it works. My website is online so it’s really a big trouble…

I’ve just installed WordPress SEO by Yoast but by deactivating it, it doesn’t work either.

    Can you help me ?

  • You mentioned you’re running a child theme of the default. Can you test while using only the default?

Also, can you please publish an event in the future so we can see if your main events page is working correctly? Thanks.

Sorry but I can’t do that and show you… You’ll have to trust me.
I turned the website on maintenance mode and put all my files of my child theme into a new folder except functions.php. In functions.php there was nothing but the maintenance mode.
This was the default theme that was running and I still had a 404 error page on single event page even with future events.

My events page is working correctly : I have events (private because fakes), hours, dates and the links I defined. No error.

That problem is not new as we can see in Google. https://www.google.fr/search?q=events+manager+404+error

When you put the site in maintenance mode you’re deliberately preventing the normal permalink structure from working. Because it’s permalinks you’re trying to test, maintenance mode is not going to let you test properly.

There are many reasons why permalinks stop working in WordPress, that’s why it’s important to test individual installations.

One thing to check is make a change to your permalinks, save, and then verify on the server that your .htaccess file has been updated (by checking the last modified date). It’s possible it’s not being updated when you make changes.

I made some tests this morning and finally, it appears that if, in the EM permalinks, you choose the same structure for events and for places, it displays 404 errors on single event page and not on single place page.

This should be told in the plugin…

    Thank you for your help.
