Events manager confirmation email

I can’t find the version I’m using on the list above. This is what it says on the site: Version 5.6.5 | By Marcus Sykes | View details
So when I receive bookings, I’m supposed to be able to approve them and then the site is supposed to automatically send a confirmation email to the attendee.
But when I approve, I get this:
Booking approved. ERROR : Email Not Sent.Then people email me to say they have received an email saying their booking “may not have been successful..” even though it has been successful. Can anyone shed any light on this?
