I’m trying to display a post carousel of Events, and I want to show only a specific category of Events (Past Events). While editing this in Elementor as a footer template, the correct events show up in the builder.

However, when I publish the footer, and try to display what I just built, no events show up at all. Using a different blog plugin, that plugin at least gives a message saying “the current query has no posts” even though there most definitely are, and they show up in the backend, just not the front end.

I’m using the Jupiter X theme. Latest versions of everything else.

    Hi @macgyver97,

    Thank you for reaching out.

Just to be clear, the category you are selecting for your carousel contains only events that happened in the past, yes?

Also, for me to understand and learn more about your setup, could you provide the version of the following?

    1. PHP
    2. WordPress
    3. The Events Calendar
    4. Theme and Version

    Hi,

Yes, I am choosing to display past events via a specified category.

    PHP is 8.1.

    WordPress: 6.4.2

    Latest version of Events Calendar

Latest version of Jupiter X, 4.0.

    Thank you.

    Hey @macgyver97,

Appreciate your cooperation on this ticket.

Would you mind changing the WP-ADMIN → Events → Settings → Display → Event template to the Default Page template or any of the theme’s custom templates and seeing if it fixes the issue?

    See: https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/k/basic-template-settings/

You could also check this article on how to properly diagnose this issue as there may be a theme functionality or some plugin that triggers this unexpected behavior see → https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/k/testing-for-conflicts/

If you have any caching services or plugins, temporarily flushing its caching may be worth a shot as well.

Let us know how it goes.

Sorry, making those changes has no effect. I’ve used 2 different plugins to try to display the Events posts (filtered by Category), and they do no appear. I am using the Jupiter X theme.

I still get this error message: “The current query has no posts. Please make sure you have published items matching your query.”

The posts appear correctly in the backend when I am editing the footer with Elementor, but nothing shows up on the front end once the footer is published, and I am viewing any page.

    Hi @macgyver97

I tried replicating the issue on my side, and the only time the event doesn’t appear in the carousel is if the published date is in the past.

Could you provide the steps on how we can replicate the issue you’re experiencing? A screenshot or screen recording would be very helpful.

    Looking forward to your reply.

You can see that I’m adding a Post Carousel block from Elementor into my footer. It shows properly the queried events here. When I publish and preview the footer, the area under “Recent Events” is completely empty, and I see the error message that the query has no posts.

    Hi @macgyver97

    Thanks for your message.

I noticed that the carousel widget you’re using for your posts appears different from the one I’m familiar with. Can you please let me know the name of the plugin or addon you’re using for the Posts Carousel widget? This will help me investigate further and determine if it’s compatible with our plugin.

    Looking forward to your reply.

It is the one that comes with the Jupiter X theme. However, I have tried also using this one, https://premiumaddons.com/carousel-widget-for-elementor-page-builder/, and the results are the same.

    Hi @macgyver97

Thanks for testing this further on your end. Let me check with the team about this one, and I will update you as soon as I know more.

In the meantime, let me know if you have other questions or concerns.

    Hi @macgyver97

    Thanks for waiting patiently.

While we wait for the team’s feedback, it might be a good idea to get in touch with the support team of Jupiter X and Premium Addons. Maybe they can help us figure out the issue with the carousel display inconsistency between the preview and the actual page.

Let me know if you have further questions or concerns.

I will try that. BTW, the issue isn’t footer-specific. I also put the widget on the page body, and I get the same result.

Thanks for the additional information. It seems to be related to the widget not fully compatible with our plugin.

Let me know if you have other questions or concerns.

    Hi there,

It seems like it has been some time since we received a response from you, therefore, I will consider this matter as resolved. If you require any further assistance, please do not hesitate to start a new thread.

This issue is not resolved. You mentioned that your team is looking into this, so I was waiting to hear for your feedback.

I have tried other plugins to display posts, and they are not showing your events either. What can we do to get this resolved?

    Thread Starter macgyver97

    (@macgyver97)

I did some further investigation, and I noticed that if I simply change the date to the Past Events to something in the future, the event will show up correctly on the page. Not referring to the Publish date, but the date of the event itself.

Is there a way to keep events available for posting, even though they have past? Note that I’m using the free version of your plugin.
