Events won’t load
-
Hello everyone!
I hope you guys have an answer to my problem! The calendar page works fine, but I can’t load in the different events when pressing on it. Does anyone know what the problem is, and how I can fix this ?
Thanks for your time
Kind regards

Thank you for reaching out.
Yikes! At first glance, it looks like some type of conflict. I would recommend testing for conflicts, ideally on a staging site: https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/k/testing-for-conflicts/
The other things you might want to try are:
- Re-saving your permalinks
- Emptying or temporarily disabling any caching plugin
- Downgrade to a previous version of the plugin and let us know which version breaks things
Best regards,
GeoffHi @geoffbel,
I have the same problem on my website.
To be more precisely:
– calendar and list view is working fine underexample.com/events view
,
– when I click on the event name in calendar or list view the page reloads, URL in browser is changing as expected (example.com/event/some-event-example
) but the website displays the calendar view again (loads the first month where first event is scheduled) instead of event details as I do expect,
– when I go to direct URL to the event likeexample.com/event/some-event-example
, the website shows the calendar view (loads the first month where first event is scheduled) instead of selected event details. The URL in browser is preserved (example.com/event/some-event-example
).I am running WordPress v5.6.2 and Events Plugin v5.5.0.1
Yikes! Out of curiosity, have you tried with WordPress 5.7?
To qualify this, WP 5.7 contains a few breaking changes. You should therefore prepare accordingly (as per the following article)
Another approach would be the exact opposite: use a slightly older version of our plugin. I would start with 5.4.0.2 and see if that fixes it.
If you find which version fixes it, please let us know ??
Hang in there!
I’ve started to downgrade the Events Calendar. I went through 5.4.0.2, 5.4.0.1, 5.4.0, 5.3.2.1, 5.3.1.1 and stopped at 5.3.1 version because I remember that at december 2020 or january 2021 the plugin works just fine.
Unfortunately each of listed version worked exactly with the same manner, so the issue is not related to the Events Calendar issue itself.
Next I did an update to WordPress 5.7.1. Unfortunately this didn’t fixed the issue, too.I’ve installed clean version of WordPress 5.7.1, then installed Events Calendar plugin newest version and everything works like a charm, also on the same Theme.
During the upcoming weekend I will have to find some time to deeper investigation with staging site. So stay tuned and thanks for Your input.
Kudos for fixing it! I am super curious to see what you find when you investigate further.
Have a great weekend!
GeoffI found the culprit!
The Easy Social Feed – Social Photos Gallery – Post Feed – Like Box plugin makes a mess here!Don’t know exactly why it happens. Generally in the plugin there is no much settings to change. It allows to connect to Facebook page and Instagram account. To resolve the issue I had to disconnect both (FB and IG) or disable the plugin itself.
Now as I suspect I have to contact with Easy Social Feed Support Team, yes?
It would be nice if @jeanneboll could confirm is she using the Easy Social Feed plugin too just to make sure this is the traitor ??Kind regards to you both!

Kudos for finding the culprit!
Plugin conflict is a delicate matter and can totally happen in spite of everyone’s good intentions ??
It would indeed be a great idea to reach out to the good folks behind Easy Social Feed – Social Photos Gallery – Post Feed – Like Box. Most of the time plugin developers end up collaborating when it comes to solving bugs ??
Cheers,
GeoffHello again,
I’ve tried your suggetions, and nothing off the following worked for me. Any other suggestions? Or should I just wait to see if it works with an upcoming update? If it doesn’t work, we’ll have to find another solution.
I can give an login to the website, if you want to take a look at the problem, @geoffbel ? Looks like you’re a developer to the plugin ??
Kind regards
Jeanne BollSame here.
Single event view is not working, instead it just displays the calendar view.
None of the suggestions worked – and i don’t use the Easy Social Feed plugin. The only thing that sort of “fixes” it, is to disable the updated calendar designs, but that messes up styling, etc. so that’s not really a solution…
(I noticed that currently there are a couple of reports regarding this exact issue, so i didn’t open a new topic.)
Cheers,
JakobHello again
I saw there was a question about if I used the plugin “Easy Social Feed” – that plugin is not installed on the website either.
Kinds regards
JeanneWell, i don’t know exactly why, but for some reason it is now working correctly!
The only things that have changed since were third-party plugins i just updated, namely AcyMailing and Cookie Notice & Compliance for GDPR / CCPA – so i assume that one of those must have been responsible for this issue – at least for me.
Cheers,
JakobI am a bit confused. I just tested your site and was able to navigate to single events. Did you change anything by any chance?
Other common causes of such issues are:
- Enable the Month View Cache turned on in Events > Settings > Display (conflicts with certain plugins)
- Some theme or plugin conflict
- Some caching plugin interference
- Creating an actual WordPress page with the same URL that is reserved for the calendar
The best starting point is to create a staging site so that different experiments can be made without breaking your actual website: https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/k/creating-and-using-a-wordpress-staging-site/
Also, that’s the only type of site we can actually exceptionally log in ??
@jakobwiens I am super happy the issue was resolved!
Hello @geoffbel
For some odd reason it works for me as well now! Which is great! Don’t know how it worked itself out, but i’m glad it did.
Kind regards
Jeanne BollI am super stoked to hear that.
Please reach out if there is anything else.Have a great week!
