• TL;DR-
    This theme is free, but it’s not worth your effort.

    Every single time an update for this theme is released, I shudder.

    Without exception, they all have caused unexpected, significant and unwanted changes to the site. In the past, customizations made using the theme’s UI were simply lost when updates were released. Now, we have to click around the entire site and find out what’s newly broken (this time a new background was imposed upon us, menus have a weird rollover effect and – oh look – breadcrumbs are suddenly active).

    A backup/restore feature was recently added – which doesn’t seem to work, incidentally. We’ve resorted to taking screenshots of each page of the theme’s configuration so I can rebuild it following an update.

    If we had not have already invested significant time in getting this otherwise beautiful theme to work (in earlier versions) we’d abandon it.

    We usually use free themes to test out whether we’d like to buy more themes from the same company. A test-drive, if you will. If this is an example of the quality work to be expected from Theme4Press, no thanks.

  • How did you resolve the weird rollover effect – I’ve got the same problem. Thanks.

    And yeah, updates on this theme are very disruptive.

    CSS to the rescue, @matt.hammons.

    Use your favorite CSS override tool (I like the My Custom CSS plugin) to try the following tweak:

    .link-effect a:hover span, .link-effect a:focus span {
        transform: none;
    }

    Seems to have done the trick, this time.

    sorry, but we work on development so every update brings something new

    Continuing to develop and improve free themes is great. Well done. It’s a wonderful way to give users a small (featured stripped, at times) preview of what you’re capable of providing for a premium fee.

    However, updates – even to free themes – should leave existing configurations intact. When we used it, updates to this this theme modified or wiped away existing configurations. Not cool.

    Based on our negative experiences with EvoLve, we no longer use any Theme4Press themes.
