  • The site seems to be up now.

What it sounds like is a fatal PHP error which gives a blank screen. To disable a plugin you’ll need FTP/SFTP access to the site. From there you would rename the offending plugin folder. WP should automatically deactivate it.

It is up because I reinstalled wordpress, them activated the theme again and activated all of the plug-ins except for the events calendar.

It sounds like it may just be easier if I use a different plug-in for the events section. I am not 100% sure how to access it with FTP/SFTP and rename the folder – I don’t know the name of the folder I will be looking for to rename.

    Thank you.

kayrea3 – since you’ve already reinstalled WP, etc. can I ask if you switch to a default theme like TwentyTwelve and only using The Events Calendar plugin does it work?

If it does, try switching to your theme first. If the problem occurs it’s likely an incompatibility with your theme.

The folder to look for is in ./wp-content/plugins/the-events-calendar/ to deactivate just rename to something like ./wp-content/plugins/the-events-calendar-broken/

If it works with your theme then start adding back plugins, there’s an error to be found somewhere. With over 500K downloads I can assure you this plugin is quite stable.

We also use the same theme as Kayrea3 and have had the same issue. I tried using it with some of the basic themes and it was hit-and-miss for us. I would really love to keep this plug-in, is there a way you can paste the code for the older version until the issue is sorted out? It’s so useful, I’d hate to have to switch to a different service.

    Thanks!

I think it has to be the theme … very frustrating – just tried downloading a different event calendar plug-in and again my webpage is blank. argh. debating if I should reinstall wordpress again or try and figure out the FTP config and fix it that way.

Shoot. Is there no way to just go back to version 3.1? It was actually really nice and I would like to keep the calendar. Other plugins don’t display as nicely.

What theme are we talking about and is is commercial?

If it’s a commercial theme you should file a support ticket with them?

The theme is the same, Politician from theme forest. I found the code for the 3.1 version and am going to re-install that in the meantime.

where did you find the code for the 3.1 version?? I would love to re-install that one as well!

I did file a support ticket with them, but I have been trying to figure it out on my own in the mean time. I wasn’t sure if it was the theme itself or if it was the plug-in, so I wanted to see if anyone else encountered the same issue.

By the way – thank you Andy for your help … I deleted the folder by using FTP like you mentioned before so I didn’t have to redo the website for the 6th time (WOOHOO!!)

You’re quite welcome. If you want to do some more troubleshooting you can put
define( WP_DEBUG, true ) in your wp-config.php file. You should then at least see the error. You’ll still have to delete the plugin after.

Yes, same issue here… version 3.2 doesn’t seem to work with the Politician Theme, reverted to 3.1.

I subscribe the same issue on that theme [politician] too.

    I’ve back to 3.1 version.
