am not very clear on what you’re trying to do, but i’ll have a go

seems to me that you’re trying to add the “.html” at the end of the link name

Go to Settings > Permalinks and add the .html after the selected permalink

    e.g.
    instead of
    /%year%/%monthnum%/%day%/%postname%/

    have
    /%year%/%monthnum%/%day%/%postname%.html/

    to have https://localhost/wordpress/2009/02/23/sample-post.html/

    Hope this helped ??

I do not need a plugin to do that?
sure is only add .html in the permalink?

    If is correct,
    I can put:
    /%postname%.html

    and not

    /%postname%.html/

Perhaps I’m overtired and am completely misunderstanding something but why (and how) would a WordPress post/page end with .html when it’s PHP based and why would you want it to when it’s totally unnecessary?

    thisisedie,

There maybe be legitimate reasons to do this, like when migrating an existing static website (with .html extension) to WordPress. You want to ensure all external links to the site work fine, and you sure don’t want to lose the google juice.

    maxterx,

Perhaps you should read the entire page on using permalinks:
    https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Using_Permalinks

To the best of my (limited) knowledge, there’s really no right or wrong answer on what permalink structure to use, unless you have a specific requirement like the one I’ve described above.

The SEO folks want you to strip the permalink down to the postname, whereas the web standards purists preach otherwise. See the W3 article: Hypertext Style: Cool URIs don’t change => https://www.w3.org/Provider/Style/URI
