EWWW Image Optimizer couldn't install tools

    Hello. I upgraded to the latest version (1.3.9) after running 1.3.8 for a long while. I’m now getting the following error on every page.

    EWWW Image Optimizer couldn’t install tools in /home/admin/domains/heyitsfree.net/public_html/wp-content/ewww/. Please adjust permissions or create the folder. If you have installed the tools elsewhere on your system, check the option to ‘Use system paths’. For more details, visit the Settings Page or the Installation Instructions.

    However I believe I have all four compression tools installed already. The settings page says they are at least and the plugin was optimizing images when I had 1.3.8. My debug info is as follows.

    oh crap, that’s what I get for doing stuff too late at night. That was an accidental release (although it should be mostly working…).
    At any rate, I pushed 1.4.0 out the door this morning. Try that, and post the new debug block (it includes md5sums to make it easier for me to tell why things are broken).

    Your copy of jpegtran is corrupted. Did you use the built-in wordpress updater, or download and upload it via FTP? If you use ftp, you MUST use BINARY mode, or files (seems like jpegtran especially) can get corrupted.

    Uh oh, that doesn’t sound good! Thanks for the support, I really appreciate it. I believe I had my host install it for me. The only option it gives me now is to install it manually, so I will contact my host today and ask for a reinstall.

    Sorry if I wasn’t clear, I was only referring to the plugin itself, not the full WordPress install. All the other binaries look good, it’s just the jpegtran-linux64 one that appears to have been corrupted in transit.

    Right, just the jpegtran install is corrupted. Since the plugin isn’t giving me an option to reinstall it, I was going to see if my host could. Or perhaps if I delete it via FTP then the install option will reappear?

    You can just delete the whole ewww-image-optimizer folder from the plugins directory, and then re-install it.
