• Hi Jose –would it be possible to get a link to the previous version of EWZ-Rating? I have 1.1.0 installed. I would like to reinstall the previous version if possible. Thanks for your help!

If you go to https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/ewz-rating, click on the Development tab, and then on the “Advanced” link on the right, you should see a link to older versions.

    BUT:
    1. If you could take a minute to explain why, it would help me ( and other users ).

    2. The previous version will not be maintained, and could break with a new version of wordpress.

Thanks for your quick answer! We want to roll back since in the previous version it was possible to resize the image in the browser window to either 100% (with some of the image outside the window depending on the image) or to resize the image so it is all visible in the browser window by using the command+ or – key combinations. With the current version the image is automatically resized to fit the window but there is now no way to view it at 100% since command+ and – don’t work in the same way.

Would it be possible to make the changes into an option in the software?

    Thanks again.

Thank you, its a good point.

The original intention of the software was always that judges should be required to have a monitor large enough to display the entire image at 100%. The practice of using zoom shortcuts was never supported, although the software is unable to totally control what users do.

But monitor sizes are hard to enforce, and we had several instances where judges did not have sufficiently large monitors, and did not realize they were not seeing the entire image. One aim with the new version was to give clear feedback in this case.

It sounds as if you must be requiring a specific browser, since these shortcut keys do not work in all browsers. (On my own system, they work in Firefox, but not in Chrome, in both the old and new versions.) Where the keys did work, there was always the risk that judges may attempt to zoom in too far, and see pixellation where there was none.

On the other hand, once we allow any downsizing at all, which in theory we did not before, it does make sense that we should at least allow zooming-in up to 100%. I’ll give some thought to adding a control to do that in the next release.

Yes we do require Safari, Internet Explorer, or Microsoft Edge. The keyboard shortcuts work with all of those. Personally, I would be fine with the way the current iteration works, but our president insists that the judges be able to see the images at 100% so I did reinstall the previous version. I will watch the updates! Thanks, Josie.

I’d suggest you check up on just how reliable color management is in Intenet Explorer. Firefox used to be better, although I haven’t checked recently.

And just FYI, none of those browser will even run on my OS (Linux)!

Apparently Safari, Internet Explorer, and Microsoft Edge can read embedded ICC profiles, so they should be pretty decent. Many of the judges and most of the members are on Macs.
